Winemaker Notes

The 2013 Eloge is quite a bit darker, fleshier and more explosive than the 2012, but is also holding back quite a bit in reserve. Pine, mint, smoke and licorice wrap around the intense, blue/blackish fruit. Blackberry jam, savory herbs and licorice are some of the notes that inform the powerful finish, where beams of acidity add brightness.

Blend: 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc, 11% Merlot, and 3% Petit Verdot

The 2013 Eloge is aromatically expressive, but much less giving on the palate, where the wine remains very closed. There is plenty of depth, tannin and structure, that much is evident. Even if the 2013 is quite reticent, there is clearly quite a bit of pedigree. Readers will need to be patient.
