Winemaker Notes
The first Lodi Cabernet Franc wine ever produced by Michael David Winery and one of the few produced from Lodi. This varietal originated from the Bordeaux and Loire Valley regions of France and has been grown with success in many other countries. The grapes for this wine come from a 9 acre vineyard located on the west side of Lodi, no more than a stone’s throw away from the winery. Ready to drink now or could be set down for a few years.
Tasting Notes
Like staring into an inkwell, the 2015 Cab Franc is near black, laced with a dark purple edge. Inky, pulpy and thick, the wine is decadent with flavors of dark berry, chocolate ganache, tobacco leaf and red cherry. The finish is exaggerated and lengthy as a myriad of dark fruit and spiced flavors continue to linger.
